- “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” {John 1:1, 2}. Christ, the Word, the only begotten of God, was one with the eternal Father—one in nature, in character, in purpose—the only being that could enter into all the counsels and purposes of God (Father). “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” {Isaiah 9:6}. “But Thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though Thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me i.e. to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” {Micah 5:2}”{Ellen White: PP p. 34}
What does this refer to? Through His death on the cross, Jesus became our eternal earthly Father because only through Him and His sacrifice do we receive eternal life! This unique distinction with the name of ‘Father’ has to do with the exaltation of His unique sacrifice and does not mean that Jesus is a literal Father. Only God the Father, is the Father of Jesus, and the Father of all Beings of the whole Universe. He bears the name God the Father and the One true God!
